Center for the Arts

The Doogri Institute Center for the Arts is available online to students everywhere. Students of all abilities are welcome to participate in piano lessons, community orchestra, integrated peer recitals, and karaoke with friends. Families with self-direction eligibility may use their budget to pay for the tuition and fees.

DIVERSITY

Nonverbal, autistic, and special-needs students are especially welcome. We register children ages 4 and up. Our evidence-based Doogri Method guarantees that students of all abilities will learn how to read musical notes with a focus on independent musicianship. Our mission is to build community and social transformative change through diversity and inclusion in the arts.

OBJECTIVES

Every student receives a 30 minute weekly piano lesson by a classically trained teacher who is also a Licensed Developmental Music Eductor (LDME) trained in the Doogri Method. Following the lesson, the student visits the onsite state of the art computer lab with recording, mixing, and music production equipment. Our karaoke booth allows students to sing along with their own music videos, or choose from another peer’s production.

  • The cost for a 30-minute weekly lesson is $75.
  • Associated costs include visits to the center for band rehearsal, recital performance, or karaoke booth, which are billed at $150 per hour.

SUPERVISION

All students require a designated parent/caregiver to remain onsite during visits. OPWDD eligible students may be accompanied by their Community Habilitation worker for supervision, transportation, and support.
