Individualized peer support from someone who actually lives Self-Determination.
Navigating California’s Self-Determination Program can require consumers to manage planning meetings, providers, FMS requirements, spending-plan decisions, paperwork, communications, and systems that can quickly become overwhelming.
Henny Kupferstein, Ph.D. provides individualized peer support informed by lived experience as an autistic SDP participant and professional experience helping consumers understand and participate in their own planning.
Individualized Peer Support May Include
- Preparing for IPP and SDP planning meetings
- Identifying needs, goals, and barriers
- Organizing IPP outcomes and requested supports
- Reviewing planning documents with the consumer
- Helping consumers understand regional center and FMS communications
- Preparing questions for meetings
- Provider and service-navigation support
- Identifying action items and helping consumers follow through
- Building self-advocacy and self-direction skills
- Organizing records and planning materials
- Peer mentoring based on lived SDP experience
- Helping consumers learn how to actively participate in their own planning
I can guide, review, explain, identify issues, and help you develop the skills to navigate the program. The consumer remains in control of their choices, providers, goals, and planning.

INDIVIDUALIZED PROFESSIONAL PEER SUPPORT
Consumers who need dedicated one-to-one assistance may engage me for individualized professional peer-support services.
Professional rate: $250/hour
Services may be paid privately or, when included and authorized in the participant’s individual SDP plan and spending plan, funded through the appropriate SDP service category, including Service Code #320 Community Living Supports when applicable.
